What's New?

What's new? A lot actually.
  1. My job. I'm officially a second year ("senior") JCSC fellow. This doesn't mean much except that i make a little more $$ each month and I get to mentor a few of the new first years. Most of the time they know more than me, but hopefully I will prove helpful on occasion.
  2. My fav Band. Saw them last friday and am now obsessed. They are a sarchastic, hilarious bluegrass/country/folk band. www.austinloungelizards.com
  3. My Facebook Profile. I now have like 40 new facebook friends on account of meeting all the aforementioned JCSCs.
  4. My travel history. I can now check Pittsburg off my list of US cities to visit. That's where the JCSC conference was held--on the Pitt campus, mostly. I didn't hear great things about it before I went, but I actually really loved it there. There were some cute shops and streets and the Pitt campus is beautiful, as is the Hillel building. I can also check off Houston, as I went last weekend to see the Padres play (aka, kick the ass of) the Astros. Thanks, Dane, for the ride and the fun time. Even if it did take 5 hours to get back.
  5. My boat experience. I have now been on a riverboat cruise. This being one of the highlights of the JCSC conference. Such fun.
  6. My shampoo, conditioner AND body wash. Pretty exciting, eh?
  7. My officemate. Oded, our new Hillel Israel Fellow, arrived yesterday afternoon, directly from the Holyland. Thus far, I am a huge fan. He's super sarcastic and has great english. I took him to the grocery store yesterday. Wow, was that an adventure.
  8. Laguna Beach. Yes the new season starts tonight.
  9. My roommate. Well, she's not new, but for today, she is actually home! She has been in nicaragua and is leaving tomorrow for an alumni weekend at Carleton College (her alma mater).
  10. Our coffee table. Ikea came through with our delivery and Robin and I now have a beautiful new centerpiece to our living room.
  11. My fav easy recipe. Do you want some stirfry but don't have any good sauce? Here's an easy recipe that makes a yummy teriyaki-type sauce... wisk together equal parts soy sauce & apple cider vinegar. Add a splash of vegetable oil and brown sugar to taste. Brown some chicken, add some asian type veggies and then pour the sauce over. Eat with chopsticks--it just tastes better.
  12. My love for my job. The JCSC conference last week was amazing. It was so great to catch up with my close friends but also fun to meet all the new first year fellows. I think it's a really good group; acutally I KNOW it's going to be a good group.
  13. My bank account. A week or so ago, I discovered a few fraudulent charges on my checking account. So, I am now officially a Bank of America customer.

Things I am looking forward to:

  1. All the students coming back...work's just not the same without them
  2. The first meeting of Books & Babes--the book club I am starting
  3. Seeing the family and other friends in Knoxville, TN for the first Cal football game of the year!
  4. Annie's visit in November (4) having the fam here for thanksgiving!
  5. Hillel Staff conference--getting to see all my lovely JCSCs again.
  6. Other visitors...hint, hint.
