Four Weeks. I have been here almost FOUR WEEKS! It's actually kind of weird because in some ways it feels like it's been far longer than that. But on the other hand, in certain respects, it seems like just yesterday that I was deciding what to do for the one month I could be home in San Diego before I left to come to Austin.
In any case, things have been great. It's actually a partial lie for me to say I have been here 4 weeks because I was gone all of last week for the JCSC training conference. Such a fun week--met some great people and was considered the "social chair," meaning I was the one who went out a lot and stayed out late at night. Where did that come from? I guess it just depends--sometimes I am in the mood, sometimes I'm not. The conference was in Philadelphia and we spent most of the time on the campus of uPenn at the Hillel center. But, we did venture out some. One day we went to a rock climbing gym and got to do tons of stuff there. It was so fun, and most of us were sore for the next 3 days. We also went to Cereality (www.cereality.com) for breakfast which was something I have wanted to do for a long time.
When I got back from Philly, I FINALLY met my roomie Jackie and her puppy Toby. They are both great, except Toby is a little rambuncious. But, he will calm fown once he gets settled in the new place. Our apartment looks so nice, thanks to Jackie and her mom, basically. But I did my small part--I put the 4 dining room chairs together. Quite a struggle, I must say! We now have a fully functioning apartment: a couch and loveseat, TV stand, entry table, silverware set, paper towels to last until 2047 and every type of cleaner and disinfectant you could imagine. Jackie and I are going to have a lot of fun and we definitely plan on doing some entertaining.
Well, it's Monday. That typically means I am very tired and lethargic. Guess it's time to get back to work...
